What brought me to explore Meditation 20+ years ago? STRESS and OVERWHELM
Back in 2003 I was STRESSED OUT beyond imagination. I was working my butt off, struggling to pay the bills, dealing with some intense family struggles and feeling lost in life.
I couldn't seem to shut my mind off and was sleeping only a handful of hours a night. I was tired but wired. In short, I was exhausted, anxious and overwhelmed.
Due to the stress, my relationships were suffering, I was horribly impatient with others, my productivity and creativity at work were at an all time low and I felt like I was drowning.
I knew I couldn't keep this up much longer and something had to change.
Anyone else know what I'm talking about?
I was down on my knees praying for an answer, when it happened.
Something inside me told me to go to Barnes and Noble and explore the Spirituality section. While there I came across a book called The Spontaneous Fulfillment Of Desire by Deepak Chopra.
There was so much wisdom inside the really landed and it also described how to begin a Meditation practice.
I had heard that meditation was a tool you could use to reduce stress and find peace of mind.Ā I was sold. So I began to meditate.Ā Guess what? It absolutely helped to ground me and reduce my stress.
Jump forward to today, and I wake up every morning at 3 am to meditate.
When I first began, meditation was a band-aid on a broken arm. I only used it when I was overly stressed or anxious. But as the Pringles jingle says. "once you pop, you can't stop". Turns out, that's true for meditation too. It just keeps calling you back.
And I found that the more frequently I practiced, the more I was able to roll with the punches of life.
I felt more at ease, more patient, more joyful, more present, more grateful, more comfortable in my own skin, more considerate of others, more attuned to my own intuition and more connected to all of life and what I call God.
And I'm certain it will do the same for YOU!
